The Consultancy Practice within Claranet Cyber Security is a dynamic, fast-moving department delivering a range of professional services, both onsite and remotely, from ethical hacking to auditing. Our team is growing, and we need inspiring people to join us and help us to continue to build our core Cyber Essentials consultancy offering to existing and new customers.

As a Cyber Essentials Assessor at Claranet, you will primarily handle the day-to-day operations of our core Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus service offerings. Beyond this, you will work within the wider Consultancy team comprising of some of the sharpest minds in the ethical hacking world, with a chance to learn additional offensive security skills on the job to broaden your skillset into that of an Information Security Consultant.

Applicants should be comfortable with client-facing activities, assisting sales with client enquiries with a keen eye for detail. Additionally, applicants should also have excellent written and verbal communication skills and a willingness to continually learn and develop. Full training in preparation for the IASME Cyber Essentials examinations required to deliver the service will be provided by experienced colleagues.

Essential duties & responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering Cyber Essentials Basic (and Plus) assessments with existing and new clients.
  • Assisting with pre/post sales activities as required.
  • Providing technical mentoring to other colleagues delivering the service.
  • Encouraging a positive, proactive and solution-oriented approach among team members.
  • Maintaining excellent communication with customers and internal teams including sales and PMO.
  • Assisting with the development and growth of the core Cyber Essentials offering, refining the service further and documenting new methodologies.

About You

Position Specifications

Essential Experience:

  • 3+ years’ experience in an IT field, preferably within cyber security.
  • Working under pressure of deadlines and structuring workload accordingly.
  • Problem-solving, helping others to understand complex ideas.
  • Familiarity with audit and compliance.
  • Providing advice and guidance in client-facing situations.

Essential General:

  • Client facing, able to confidently and professionally represent the company.
  • Aptitude for understanding, interpreting and applying objective standards to specific responses.
  • Willing to travel to deliver onsite work as required.
  • Conducting assessments out of normal office hours on occasion.
  • Self-motivated and able to work in an independent manner as well as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Positive, collaborative and enthusiastic.

In addition, the following are desirable:

  • Experience of delivering Cyber Essentials security assessments, both remotely and onsite.
  • Providing remediation advice in meetings and conference calls.
  • IT related University degree.
  • Experience delivering a compliance standard (such as PCI-DSS, IASME Governance).
  • Public speaking experience.
  • Full UK driving license.
  • Cyber security experience.
  • Experience managing client projects.
  • Information security consulting experience.
  • Qualification in CREST Practitioner Security Analyst (CPSA), CREST Registered Tester (CRT) or equivalent offensive security technical accreditations.
  • CISSP, CISA, CEH, OSCP or equivalent reputable information security certifications
  • Security clearance.
