About The Role

As a Penetration Test Team Leader at Claranet, you will balance fulfilment of client security testing work with the management of a group of penetration testers assigned to your team. You will deliver a wide range of testing from web and mobile application tests to network infrastructure and social engineering assessments and use your breadth of testing knowledge to coach, develop and mentor your team. You will play an active role in the technical development and performance of your team members, as well as working with HR to ensure that team member objectives are clear and results are recorded and discussed in one-to-ones and annual appraisals. You will work with the Training Lead to ensure your team members are benefiting from the upskilling content available.

You will work collaboratively with Offensive Security Senior Manager, fellow Team Leaders, , Product Managers and the Practice Lead to build new services, tooling, delivery techniques and client-facing content.

From time to time you will take on more complex scoping tasks when referred by the solutions architect team or the sales team.

You will work with the Offensive Security Senior Manager  and leadership from across the business to create a dynamic and innovative working environment.

As a Senior Penetration Tester, you will already have demonstrated a willingness to submit new and innovative ideas, become involved in projects and initiatives to help improve the business, shown an understanding of the strategic direction of the business and a positive, collaborative approach in helping to drive effective change.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering a wide range of testing services
  • Creating and maintaining development plans for team members
  • Using mentoring skills to develop capabilities and improve performance of team members
  • Setting objectives and key results for team members
  • Conducting regular one-to-ones and annual appraisals with team members
  • Working with HR business partner to answer questions from team members and to communicate policies & processes
  • Working with Training Lead to ensure team members are benefiting from training and development content
  • Taking on more complex scoping activities when needed and managing workload alongside existing commitments
  • Understanding the strategic objectives of the business and the key initiatives that underpin them
  • Playing an active role in the submission of ideas for projects that will drive the business forward in line with its strategic objectives
  • Driver and influencer of a positive, proactive, collaborative and solution-oriented approach among colleagues
  • Involvement in recruitment; CV feedback, rig reviews and interviews
  • Communicating clearly and effectively within Claranet and with clients, both orally and in writing
  • Conducting weekly team meetings to encourage information sharing and distribution of business information
  • Contributing to the writing and publishing of whitepapers and advisories
  • Developing and delivering webinar content
  • Delivering targeted research and development in line with direction of the business
  • Assisting with identification, building and deployment of new services
  • Identification and communication of improvements in processes for the benefit of Claranet staff and customers

About You

Essential Technical

  • Senior Penetration Tester status and/or 6+ years of experience information security
  • Excellent understanding of web and mobile application testing, and infrastructure testing alongside other core testing services
  • Outstanding report writing both in terms of accuracy and meeting deadlines
  • Credibility and capability demonstrated through range of industry respected qualifications
  • Ability to provide effective technical mentoring to improve the skills of colleagues
  • Experience working with at least one scripting languages such as Python, Ruby, Bash, Javascript, etc.
  • Strong operating systems skills such as Windows, Linux etc.
  • Produced research papers, delivered presentations, and/or contributed to blogs
  • 4+ years of client facing consulting work experience performing penetration testing
