About The Role

Position Summary

The Business Operations Manager is responsible for delivering the support to facilitate a successful operational plan, drive transformation and improve efficiency of the overall Business Unit. Working closely with the Business Unit Director and Senior Management team on strategic and tactical activities to constantly enable high performance whilst ensuring the Business Unit operates in line with its own and the wider company’s strategic goals and growth plans.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities

  • The Business Operations Manager provides key support to the Business Unit Director and the wider Business Unit Senior Management team in the execution of strategic priorities and initiatives – to collate business analysis, highlight concern points, derive positive recommendations, develop strategic proposals, implement prioritised change, drive operational efficiency, to improve overall performance across all aspects of the Business Unit.
  • The Business Operations Manager supports in the collation, contextualisation, preparation and delivery of business unit operational performance information and analytics – enabling the Business Unit to successfully communicate its strategy, report progress and measure its outcomes achieving long-term customer success and Business Unit growth.
  • The Business Operations Manager manages and owns the overall risk register for the Business Unit, supporting processes to ensure continual tracking and management of risk.
  • The Business Operations Manager supports the deployment and adoption of governance frameworks.
  • The Business Operations Manager supports with long-term resource management planning.

About You

Position specifications

  • The role requires strong commercial & operational experience and evidence of managing and supporting leadership teams with a complex commercial P+L from a strategic, rather than accounting perspective.
  • The Business Operations Manager should have experience in executing projects and programmes, have the ability to take the lead on strategic initiatives and to drive change to improve outcomes for the overall Business Unit.
  • The Business Operations Manager should be able to implement methodologies and processes to gather and collate data systematically across the Business Unit.
  • The Business Operations Manager should have experience in pipeline analysis & management, revenue and cost management and the ability to process data to derive useful information and work hand in hand with the Finance Business Partner to ensure strong governance and control.
  • The role requires the ability to support with the identification of long-term strategies to improve key performance indicators linked to critical business outcomes.
  • The Business Operations Manager should demonstrate excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, must work fluidly both at a senior peer and customer ‘C Level’, building trustful and successful relationships and support continual positive momentum towards the company’s objectives.
  • The Business Operations Manager should be an excellent communicator at all levels, able to present to large and small audiences and create a compelling proposition/story as appropriate to both engage technical and business leaders, internal employees and alliance partners alike.

 In addition, the following are highly desirable:

  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent experience.
  • Significant experience within similar business focused roles with leading IT Services companies with specific Network and Communications and professional services experience and pre-sales experience.
  • Data driven, analytical and well versed in mechanisms and levers which can be deployed to grow revenue.
  • Strong oral, presentation, and written communication skills.
  • Track record of having actively supported or managed large/complex financial/commercial activities.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills.
  • Faces conflict and challenge in an open and constructive manner.
  • Gravitas and strong negotiating and influencing skills with the ability to build credibility quickly at all levels.
  • Flexible, creative, and innovative, willing to take considered risks and learn and adapt.
  • Comfortable dealing with a diverse range of people at all levels of business both internally and externally.
  • Is self-motivated and able to work under pressure.
  • Ability to travel to different sites and locations on a regular basis.
