About The Role

Claranet Cyber Security is a world class business unit within Claranet, designed to give customers access to market-leading information security services spanning; training, consulting, and managed services.

The Consultancy Practice within Claranet Cyber Security business unit is a dynamic, fast-moving department delivering a range of professional services, both onsite and remotely, such as; training, penetration testing, PCI DSS and Cyber Essentials.

Claranet Cyber Security is in the process of scaling out a managed service providing audit functions to a data security framework built in collaboration with a major client.  The purpose of this framework is to give their customers assurances that their data is secure when being processed and stored by third-parties who provide software apps and add-ins which integrate with our major client’s platforms.  Tasked with the ongoing development of this data security framework and delivering assessments, the team is expanding to fulfil the increasing volume of assessments required to service the contract.

Although this role is primarily for fulfilling this specific managed service offering within the Claranet Cyber Security Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC) practice, there may be opportunities to get involved in other areas which the GRC team covers which may include PCI DSS, Risk Assessments, Cyber Security Assessments and any future developments within the GRC space such as ISO 27001 and SOC 2. The GRC team may also support other Claranet business units’ cross-company activities.

The role would best be suited to someone who is highly adaptable, highly driven and can think on their feet in a dynamic and fast paced environment. A keen eye for detail is highly desirable as is a willingness to learn on and off the job and having a sense of humour when things seem tough. Excellent communication skills are required to deal with clients and colleagues alike as no two days are the same.

orking as a Security Consultant within the GRC team, your primary role will be delivering audit / assessment functions as required to deliver on our managed service contract on behalf of our major client, in a flexible and methodical approach.  Additional functions will include, but not be limited to; supporting all areas of delivery of this managed service contract, scoping calls, assessment calls, helping to further develop and evolve the audit framework we’ve developed.  Working within other GRC areas may also be expected as new service offerings are developed.

Essential duties & responsibilities

Key duties and responsibilities of this job role can include some or all the following (depending on experience and certifications held):

  • Performing assessments against the Claranet Cyber Security developed audit framework on behalf of our major client
  • Providing timely communication with clients to ensure continued progression through assessments that have started
  • Providing ongoing support to clients looking to start an assessment or already progressing through an assessment
  • Participating in client calls to; provide Q&A support for clients wanting to start the assessment, performing remote assessment activities, etc.
  • Performing Quality Assurance reviews of reports produced by the GRC team
  • Fulfilling or supporting other GRC team members in fulfilling other customer consultancy / projects; such as ISO 27001, cyber security reviews, risk assessments, etc.
  • Communicating within Claranet Cyber Security, the wider Claranet Group and with clients, both orally and in writing
  • Assisting with the development and growth of the Security Business Unit GRC team and services offerings
  • Assisting with the development of cutting-edge training material for internal and external delivery
  • Maintaining CPEs and re-certification requirements for any industry certifications/qualifications required to fulfil duties

The duties of this position will be performed remotely or from our office in Leeds, from customer sites, and may require driving to customer locations and some out of hours work may also be expected. The candidate will be expected to work alone, around others, under minimal supervision and under tight deadlines. 

A rota system will be in place requiring a working pattern where at a minimum, one week in every 4 will entail working hours between 11:30am and 8:00pm, including a one-hour break.

About You

EXPERIENCE

  • 1+ years’ of consultative audit exposure
  • 3+ years’ information technology and network security experience
  • 3+ years’ experience managing client projects
  • 3+ years’ information consulting experience
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
  • Ability to manage own workload
  • Ability to work alone and within a team
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines, prioritise and manage workload
  • Good knowledge and understanding of security technologies
  • Good knowledge and understanding of networking
  • Good numeracy and organisational skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills (spoken and written)
  • Ability to quickly learn and understand new skills and technologies specific to the Cyber Security industry
  • Take own initiate to expand information security knowledge
  • Ability to write concise, accurate and timely reports
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
  • Any exposure to audit frameworks; PCI DSS, ISO 27001, NIST, SOC 2, etc…
  • Exposure to Amazon’s and/or Microsoft’s cloud platforms.
  • GDPR Experience
  • Full UK Driving License
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Willing to travel and conduct information security consultancy work out of normal office hours as required by our clients
  • Client facing, able to confidently and professionally represent the company
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work in an independent manner
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
