About The Role

The Role – This is a Networks Solution Architect role working within the Solution Design team. The primary focus of the Solution Design team, through responsive, communicative and innovative activity, is to work closely with the Business Development Managers, Sales Specialists and our customers to ensure that we meet their expectations from initial engagement and throughout the sales engagement lifecycle. As a Solution Architect, you are primarily responsible for designing service-based solutions that answer the customer challenge and for providing consultancy services on existing services.  Additionally, you are responsible for driving growth and optimizing profitability within an evolving service portfolio and customer base including supporting the acquisition of new customers.

You must be passionate about understanding the customers business challenge, have a desire to understand the industry and be aligned to interpret our services and/or identify new services to resolve those challenges. You will stay abreast of market dynamics and trends ensuring Claranet’s proposition is relevant and support our products team in adapting the proposition.

The Solution Architect role is primarily an office-based role; however, national travel will be expected at times in order to attend off-site customer meetings and workshops.

Essential duties & responsibilities

  • Be a market expert who will continuously evolve Claranet’s proposition to ensure relevance in the market.
  • Provide technical solution-based design support for Security Driven Network services (Based around the Fortigate or Meraki portfolio) into new and existing customer opportunities.
  • Working with the Sales Specialists to understand the customer requirements and to design solutions specific to their technical, business and budgetary needs.
  • Providing leadership and expertise in front of the customer, coaching and co-working large opportunities through to win within the collaboration portfolio space.
  • Must be able to articulate and design technical solutions based on the technologies underpinning the Claranet network and communication portfolio.
  • Leverage our suppliers to maximise our knowledge, credibility and relationship.
  • Accountable for the successful handover to the Service Delivery team and the accuracy of the design specification to installation.
  • Manage any custom requirements within the business, including working with the relevant technical and pricing experts within Operations and Finance where necessary.
  • Provide expert knowledge and support to others across the business in relation to the Solution Architect role.
  • Manage general technical questions and queries from the sales community in pursuit of new business growth.
  • Build and maintain supporting documentation to enable greater self-service by the sales teams.
  • Where necessary provide/facilitate training to enable the sales team’s greater self-sufficiency with customer opportunities.
  • Provide market and sales feedback to Product Management.
  • Building and maintaining strong working relationships with key teams across the organization, contributing to Claranet’s collaboration community.

About You


  • Previous experience of working within a Solution Design Team or as a Subject matter expert within at least one of the core technical areas of focus.
  • A strong understanding of design and delivery of managed solutions orientated around the Microsoft Modern Workplace and Security eco system.
  • Experience of working with customers to understand their requirements and translate this into solution designs.
  • A flexible and pro-active approach.
  • Experience of writing technical/solution documentation addressing customer requirements.
  • Desire to work within a solutions / consultative technical sales environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, written, and verbal including communicating and presenting to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Good understanding of the technologies behind Claranet’s network products, such as:
  • Ethernet, EFM, EoFTTC, Leased Lines, FTTC/P, ADSL
  • Mobile Broadband (4G/5G)
  • Firewalls & Advanced Threat Detection Services
  • TCP/IP, Routing, Switching
  • Switching, Wi-Fi and LAN solutions
  • Cisco, Cisco Meraki, Fortinet, Draytek
  • Self-motivated problem solver, with the ability to prioritize, manage time effectively and cope under pressure.
  • Enthusiasm and drive to succeed whilst continuing to develop both your technical and consultancy skills.
  • Full Driving License.


  • Previous experience working in a consultancy-based collaboration practice
  • Technical accreditations or part accreditations e.g. CCNA, CCNP, CMNA, Fortinet NSE
