About You

The aim of the Finance team at Claranet is to provide expert financial advisory and support services to the business underpinned by an effective control environment. This falls into three key areas: (1) Financial Business Services: Production of reporting to support and influence business decision making and overall management of the bi-annual Business Planning process; (2) Corporate Services: Development and management of an appropriate governance and risk management framework and the provision of information for Group Finance; (3) Financial Shared Services: Efficient provision of transactional and administrative business processes including related system development and stewardship of core data quality.

The Finance function is a professional environment and consists of the following functions; Financial & Management Accounting, Commercial Finance, Credit Control, Sales Support, Cancellations, Legal, Procurement & Compliance.  The majority of the UK finance function is based in Gloucester although we have members of the team in London, Warrington and Leeds as well as some homeworkers.

Roles and Responsibilities

This role is within the Business Partner team and reports to the Senior Finance Business Partner. The Business Partner team is responsible for providing guidance, advice and challenge on financial and operational matters to the Business Unit Leadership.

This is focused on the provision of relevant and timely analysis to support the development of strategy and the business decision making process.

To support Senior Business Partner in being a genuine Business Partner to both the Network & Communications (NCBU) and SMB Business units. This will include: targeted Business Intelligence to support decision making; financial analysis to support change and increase efficiency and effectiveness; and Investment Appraisal to ensure profitable use of resources.

The key priorities for the role are:

Support to NCBU & SMB Sales functions

  • Be the first point of contact for the sales functions in respect to re-contract and new business requests
  • Support the Sales Team by providing accurate, timely and insightful financial models to maximize the retention of existing customers at competitive price and margin.
  • Support the Sales Team by providing accurate, timely and insightful financial models to maximize the opportunities to win New Business.
  • Attend internal tender/pricing meetings and clearly and concisely explain the financial models to attendees.
  • Own, maintain and update the Small Re-contract Tool (internal Excel based sales enablement tool).

    Support to Commercial Approvers

  • Clearly and concisely explain the financial models to the BU Commercial Approvers.
  • Produce accurate and timely scenario/option analysis and any other appropriate analysis required by the BU Commercial Approvers.

    Support to SMB Product Management

  • Support newly appointed SMB product manager in formulating SMB product and pricing strategy
  • Analyse the products of the Business Units to ensure understanding of their profitability and product lifecycle.
  • Full support for new product launches including walkthrough of the lead to cash process.
  • Ensure that the profitability of all new products and customers are accurately calculated with relevant and timely information to enable the business to make appropriate decisions.

    Support to SMB Senior management

  • Support Senior Finance Business Partner in providing financial support, analysis and advice.
  • To support the Business Unit Leadership Team to ensure that decisions are made on accurate and timely information and sound financial advice.
  • Identify potential cost savings and operational efficiencies to enable Senior Management to improve company profitability.

    Business Support

  • Provide support, analysis and advice as required to all the Senior Management.
  • Responsibility for completion and presentations of ad hoc projects as required.
  • Assist in the automation of data preparation and reporting.
  • Ad hoc project work as required.
