About The Role

Claranet is undergoing a Business Systems Transformation programme, investing in modern technologies to support its critical business support processes. We are seeking a Group Solution Architect to provide direction, oversight and design to drive the optimisation of its business support processes across our portfolio of SaaS and in-house developed technologies.

The Group Solution Architect will work alongside Business Stakeholders, a team of Business Analysts who have in depth knowledge of the priorities and processes of each of the Claranet Country organisations, and the Application Development Specialists to determine the appropriate application architecture throughout the Systems Transformation programme, making technical decisions regarding the solution and focussing on how they impact the business outcomes.

As the Claranet Group continues to grow and evolve, the Group Solution Architect will work with business and technical staff to recommend solutions that result in more effective systems beyond the Systems Transformation programme.

The fundamental pillars of Claranet’s Business Systems Architecture are Salesforce, ServiceNow and MS Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, augmented with in-house developed applications that give Claranet both flexibility and competitive advantage.

The Group Solution Architect is responsible for the vision that underlies the application suite managed by Group Information Systems and the execution of that vision into the solution by selecting the most appropriate technology or technologies for a problem, and also involves balancing architectural concerns with the concerns of the business.

The Group Solution Architect will:

  • Have a deep understanding of business outcomes, capabilities, value streams and processes, and linking them to the portfolio of solutions (including projects, products, services and other systems)
  • Lead solution design and analysis, leading to the creation of technology solutions to meet business needs
  • Orchestrate solutions delivery, providing the necessary leadership to the development of an Claranet’s solutions architecture, such as governance, creating a portfolio roadmap and monitoring current state
  • Facilitate and collaborate to deliver business value, working closely with, and provide support to, the Business Analysts, Application Development Team Leads, product owners and business stakeholders throughout the development life cycle.


About You

The ideal candidate has experience on at least one of the fundamental pillars, integration to 3rd party applications and is aware of the latest technology of either the Salesforce or ServiceNow ecosystems.

We are also looking for someone with strong business acumen to understand the challenges we are looking to address due to the increased velocity of business disruptions making business change more difficult, compounded by the use of new and emerging technologies. The Group Solution Architect will bring together various EA viewpoints across Claranet, such as application, information, data and security architecture to deliver business value and enable Claranet to become resilient and future-fit.

A strong knowledge of The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) and how it can be applied to evolve Claranet’s application architecture according to the roadmaps developed would be highly advantageous.


  • Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems and / or a relevant experience in your industry showing career progression and increasing responsibility in line with a constantly expanding skill set.
  • At least eight years’ experience of working in multiple IT areas including:
    • Software architecture design
    • Business analysis
    • Project management
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively, negotiate and influence with business stakeholders and development teams alike.
  • Translate business and technical requirements into an architectural blueprint to achieve business objectives and documents all solution architecture design and analysis work
  • Create architectural designs to guide and contextualize solution development across products, services, projects and systems (including applications, technologies, processes and information)
  • Lead evaluation, design and analysis for the implementation of a solutions architecture across Claranet’s portfolio of business applications and technologies, based on business strategies, business capabilities, value streams, business requirements and enterprise standards.
  • Experience of solution architecture in a systems transformation setting, involving at least one of Salesforce, ServiceNow and MS Dynamics 365 F&O

In addition, the following are highly desirable:

  • Understanding of Managed Service Provider technologies such as IP, MPLS, virtualisation, cloud hosting an advantage
  • Previous experience in IT managed service provider, telecommunications technology or similar business environment
  •  Achieved TOGAF v9 Certification
  • Any European language skills an advantage
