About The Role

Group Engineering add value to Claranet Group companies by designing, implementing and operating common services centrally rather than locally, allowing these companies to focus on their core business. Group Engineering provide these services on a Software as a Service (SaaS) basis.

Core Development provide software engineering services to the rest of the Group Engineering area, along with providing operational support for their software. Working with highly technical and passionate technologists, you will have the opportunity to learn and use new technologies, as well as being encouraged to contribute related work to the Open Source community. In addition, a large proportion of your time will be spent researching and developing new products and services to be consumed within Claranet and by its’ customers.

Collaborating with teams across Claranet Group Engineering and the Claranet Group as a whole, there is the opportunity to solve technically challenging and interesting problems, while still developing your own knowledge and skills in a high paced and rapidly evolving environment.

About You

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Participate in the design, prototyping and implementation of new applications.
  • Improve system efficiency, monitoring and performance.
  • Reduce existing system complexity and technical debt.
  • Design, implement and operate highly available, scalable and performant infrastructure and services.
  • Design, implement and improve a common toolchain.
  • Contribute to the adoption of modern, service-oriented methodologies.
  • Triage operational issues related to our software and participate in an on-call rotation.
Essential Experience
  • Minimum experience 3 years in a similar role.
  • Strong systems/software engineering skills.
  • In-depth experience of developing software in Python.
  • Experience working with highly available and distributed infrastructure.
  • Experience working with micro-services and event-driven architectures.
  • Experience deploying software using CI/CD.
  • Experience working with Linux container technologies.
  • Fluency in English with good written and verbal communication skills
Desirable 
  • Experience on working with systems that handle money or otherwise financial transactions.
  • Good understanding of networking and network protocols.
  • Experience working with Public Cloud technologies (example AWS / GCP).
