Position Summary
As the FinOps Lead and Cloud Economics expert, you will lead Claranet’s FinOps capability for a financial services customer operating across Azure and Private Cloud environments. You will be responsible for delivering cost models, optimisation strategies, and financial reporting aligned to the customer’s strategic objectives, regulatory requirements, and operational resilience obligations.

This player/coach role leads the FinOps team within the Technology portfolio, driving service maturity, cost transparency, and value realisation, while ensuring strong governance, compliance, and operational excellence.

Role Mission
Claranet’s strategy is to build long‑term, trusted relationships with financial services customers by delivering secure, resilient, and well‑governed managed services. As FinOps Lead, you will own and evolve a market‑leading FinOps service focused on Azure and Private Cloud, ensuring financial accountability, optimisation, and audit‑ready reporting.

Objectives & Key Results
  • Deliver transparent, accurate, and defensible cost models across Azure and Private Cloud platforms
  • Improve cost efficiency while maintaining performance, resilience, and regulatory compliance
  • Embed FinOps governance aligned to financial services risk and control frameworks
  • Enable data‑driven decision making through high‑quality reporting and insight
  • Grow and mature Claranet’s FinOps capability for regulated environments
Essential Roles & Responsibilities
  • Lead the FinOps team, setting clear objectives and conducting regular performance reviews
  • Design and deliver FinOps services aligned to financial services customer expectations and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with sales to support FinOps‑led opportunities and account growth
  • Work with Cloud, Private Cloud, Data, and Technology teams to design automated and insightful cost reports and dashboards
  • Develop and maintain cost models covering Azure consumption, private cloud capacity, and hybrid service charges
  • Research, test, and implement tools and processes that improve cost transparency and optimisation
  • Provide expert FinOps reporting and recommendations to customers, articulating insights to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
  • Administer cost management and financial reporting platforms, including Azure Cost Management and private cloud financial tooling
  • Translate business and technical requirements into actionable cost models using Excel, Power BI, or equivalent tools
  • Provide strategic input to the Leadership Team on the evolution of the FinOps portfolio
Financial Services & Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure all FinOps activities comply with financial services regulations and frameworks (e.g. FCA, PRA, DORA, ISO 27001)
  • Embed auditability, traceability, and transparency into all cost models and reporting
  • Support audits, regulatory reviews, and customer assurance activities in collaboration with Quality, Security, and Compliance teams
  • Ensure cost governance supports operational resilience, business continuity, and regulatory reporting obligations
  • Maintain awareness of evolving regulatory expectations and integrate them into FinOps practices
Governance & Reporting
  • Produce and present FinOps reports, dashboards, and performance summaries for customer and internal stakeholders
  • Track and manage FinOps risks, issues, and actions through defined governance forums
  • Support data governance initiatives including cost allocation models, tagging strategies, and access controls
  • Ensure all FinOps artefacts are documented, versioned, and maintained in line with governance standards
  • Support contract renewals and service scope changes from a FinOps and commercial assurance perspective

  • Proven experience delivering FinOps or cloud financial management in Azure and Private Cloud environments
  • Strong understanding of private cloud cost drivers (capacity, utilisation, licensing, support)
  • Experience with Azure Cost Management and private cloud financial reporting tools
  • Advanced skills in Excel and Power BI for cost modelling and insight
  • Strong understanding of cloud and hybrid infrastructure economics
